<p><strong>Three Day Live Anger Management Facilitator Training Presented by Anger Management Guru: George Anderson, BCD, LCSW, CAMF</strong></p>
<p>Approved for CEU’s by CAADAC (#2n96-341-0805), BBS (#PCE60), CAADE (#CP40-793-C-1009), TCBAP, Texas Commission on Juvenile &amp; Adult Probation and the CA. Board of Corrections, The Anderson &amp; Anderson model of anger management is the most effective and widely recognized Anger Management curriculum in the world. This model, which has been featured in Los Angeles Times Magazine, focuses on enhancing emotional intelligence and assertive communication while introducing behavior strategies for identifying and managing anger and stress.</p>
<p>The First day of training will focus on Adolescent Anger Management and will use the Anderson workbook “Controlling Ourselves” as the text. A demonstration and discussion of the Bar On 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment will be conducted.</p>
<p>On the Second day, Adult Anger Management will be examined. A demonstration of the Pre and Post Test will be conducted with a discussion of its usefulness. “Gaining Control of Ourselves,” in conjunction with experiential exercises and videos, will be used to initiate the participants to this intervention. Most major corporations have accepted this model for use by H.R. and EAP Managers.</p>
<p>The Third day of Training is Organizational Emotional Intelligence/Anger Management. This training is designed to prepare the participant to offer workshops or presentations regarding anger management, civility or emotional intelligence a small group format. This is rapidly becoming one of the most requested interventions in anger management.</p>

This one-day training is designed for Nurses, School Counselors/Psychologists, Substance Abuse Counselors, Case Managers, HR Managers, Clinicians, Probation Officers, as well as staff from group homes, and agencies serving families and youth. This curriculum is currently being used in school districts in Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, Concord and San Diego, as well as school districts in Texas and Louisiana. In addition, probation departments in Arizona, Kansas, California and Texas use this model.</p>
<p>On the Second day, Adult Anger Management will be examined. <p>This training has been conducted for Kaiser Permanente of Southern California the Riverside County Medical Association as well as the Illinois State Bar Association. Participants who attend all three days of this training will receive a free CD containing a 16-hour course on Motivational Interviewing.</p>
<p>This in addition to the above three days will give the participant the required 40 hours of Facilitator Certification Training. Each training day counts for 8 of the total of 40 hours required for Certification.</p>

In addition, there is something else happening relative to the increase in professionalism and marketing prowess.</strong></p>
<p>Here are some of the interesting new developments:</p>

<li>Co-sponsored trainings are being planned for Oakland, Houston and Atlanta as well as Sacramento.</li>
<li>Interest in membership in the American Association Of Anger Management Providers has experienced an increased  in membership requests along with voluntary interest in advocacy.</li>

<li>George Anderson has joined 50 groups on LInked in including marketing, anger management , emotional intelligence and coaching groups. We heavily market the practice of anger management on these sites.</li>
<li>The popularity of the new Bar On EQ 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment that is now the official assessment instrument for all Anderson &amp; Anderson Facilitators is proving to be a real incentive for clients to invest in Anger Management Coaching.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Referrals to Coaching for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; is Exploding.</p>
<p>It is only January 14, 2012 yet the predicted avalanche of coaching referrals from Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; is here. Mandating physicians to participate in any type of training or intervention is difficult and frequently challenged. Coaching for &#8220;disruptive behavior&#8221; is even more problematic because of its&#8217; newness and extreme range of options.</p>
<p><strong><em>Some observations from a major provider of Coaching for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221;:</em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The following is a partial list of Healthcare Professionals that may be responsible for mandating an alleged &#8220;disruptive physician&#8221; to enroll in an appropriate intervention program: Credentials Committee, Physicians Well-Being Committee, Risk Management Specialist, CEO or Medical Director. Many, if not most of these professionals are unsure of what takes place in a course or an intervention program for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; which makes the referral conversation all the more difficult.</li>
<li>There is a tendency for those in charge to delay action until the potential for litigation is a concern. Such a delay may make follow through by the physician more difficult.</li>
<li>Since the referral options range from a one -week inpatient psychiatric evaluation and thirty days of inpatient psychiatric or substance abuse treatment for &#8220;rage a holism&#8221;, to an Emotional Intelligence Assessment and skill enhancement coaching, the mandating professional may be reluctant to risk damaging a physicians career by forcing psychiatric treatment for a non-psychiatric/medical condition.</li>
<li>Taking a highly skilled surgeon a way from his or her practice, hospital and community to attend a CME Course in another state for three days is often unnecessary and cost prohibitive.</li>
<li>Finally, none of the Major Medical Associations have taken the time to evaluate the existing intervention programs for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; and develop a list or directory of approved providers nationwide.</li>
</ul>
<p>It is in the best interest of the physician and the Healthcare Organization to carefully review the reputation of the organization and their curriculum to make sure that it is related to skill enhancement in self-awareness, self-control, social awareness and relationship management. Counseling or Psychotherapy is clearly inappropriate for &#8220;disruptive behavior&#8221;.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Executive Coaching/Anger Management for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; is skill focused Emotional Intelligence</p>
<p>In contrast to Personal/Life Coaching or Psychotherapy, the major appeal of Executive Coaching rests on the perception that coaching is a powerful and highly effective approach to productivity and leadership excellence and that it is a relatively brief and cost effective alternative to psychotherapy or traditional training.</p>
<p>Coaching for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; is truly in its&#8217; infancy having been established in response to the 2008 Sentinel Alert by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations relative to physicians whose demeanor and behavior demonstrate problems in self-control, self-awareness, social awareness and relationship management as well as assertive communication and empathy.</p>
<p>Skill focused coaching is both a process and method for developing or enhancing technical, operational, analytic, relational, strategic, or self-management skills that occurs within a collaborative relationship with a coach. The goals are to reverse a skill deficit like anger management, empathy or stress management.</p>
<p>For &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; skill focused coaching is the primary or only agenda. Below is a list of some of the targets of Executive Coaching/Anger Management for physicians:</p>
<ul>
<li>Self-awareness</li>
<li>Active listening: empathy</li>
<li>Assertive communication</li>
<li>Two &#8211; way communication</li>
<li>Increased decisiveness</li>
<li>Becoming less dominating</li>
<li>Enhanced people skills</li>

<li>Work stress management</li>
<li>Conflict management and resolution</li>
</ul>

<p>The Organizational Development Departments of two major health care chains are conducting a longitudinal study on the effectiveness of this coaching model.</p>
<p>In summary, Executive Coaching/Anger Management for &#8220;disruptive physicians&#8221; is a skill-focused intervention with specific targets for enhancement consistent with the deficits that are determine by the initial assessment. Finally, although the demographics are representative of a tiny fraction of the workforce, it is nevertheless a major step in violence prevention in the workplace.</p>

<p>Southern California leads the nation in providing &#8220;fraudulent&#8221; Anger Management Completion Certificates for $25 with no questions asked. Judges and Prosecutors based on the limited amount of court time for each misdemeanor case are giving credit for these so called &#8220;courses&#8221; without verifying the legitimacy of the courses or the providers.</p>
<p>The California State Superior Court is one of the first courts in the nation to require that all providers of anger management must complete a 40-hour Anger Management Facilitator Certification Training followed by 16 hours of continuing education on a yearly basis. Further, each CAMF, Certified Anger Management Facilitator must use client workbooks and a Pre and Post Test for each client.</p>
<p>Prosecutors and other court officers should question the legitimacy of all anger management courses and providers nationwide. The American Association of Anger Management has decided to contact all criminal courts In each state with a list of fraudulent on-line anger management providers. The National Association of Social Workers will be asked to join us in advocating against on-line anger management classes.</p>

<p>A history of the Approved Los Angeles County Anger Management Provider list may be useful.</p>

<li>Approximately 15 years ago, George Anderson was approached by A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge who explained that he was Chair of a Committee of Judges with the responsibility to come up with a list of Anger Management Providers who were trained and use specific client workbooks. He requested copies of the Anderson &amp; Anderson Client workbooks along with a request that any Court Officer who requests, would be given a copy of this workbook.</li>
<li>Anderson &amp; Anderson agreed with all of the conditions requested by this committee.</li>
<li>Therefore, each January since we began, we have been updating this list for all of the courts in Los Angeles County.</li>
<li>The 2012 list from Anderson &amp; Anderson will be hand delivered to all Criminal Counts on January 5, 2012.</li>
