Frank Morales of the Family Services Center In Huntsville, Alabama has recently become a regular contributer to a local morning show called Cooper and Company. His role will be that of the anger management/conflict resolution specialist. He will appear at least once a month in this capacity. Recently their was an incident that made national news concerning a University Of Alabama at Huntsville professor shooting six of her fellow professors/department coworkers, killing three and wounding three. Mr. Morales talked about that incident and some of the things we need to look at to become more aware of issues leading to workplace violence.
Mr. Morales has been certified in the Anderson & Anderson model since 2003. He has also completed the Anderson & Anderson Organizational Training course. Mr Morales is state certified to teach domestic violence in Alabama and is both civil and divorce mediation trained. Mr Morales has a Masters degree from Alabama A & M in Counseling Psychology.

The Anderson & Anderson model of anger management is the most effective and widely recognized curriculum in the world. This model, which has been featured in Los Angeles Times Magazine, focuses on enhancing emotional intelligence and assertive communication while introducing behavior strategies for identifying and managing anger and stress. The First day of training will focus on Adolescent Anger Management and will use the Anderson workbook “Controlling Ourselves” as the text. A demonstration and discussion of the Conover Assessment Component will be conducted. This one-day training is designed for Nurses, School Counselors/Psychologists, Substance Abuse Counselors, Case Managers, HR Managers, Clinicians, Probation Officers, as well as staff from group homes, and agencies serving families and youth. This curriculum is currently being used in school districts in Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, Concord and San Diego, as well as school districts in Texas and Louisiana. In addition, probation departments in Arizona, Kansas, California and Texas use this model.

On the Second day, Adult Anger Management will be examined. A demonstration of the Conover Assessment will be conducted with a discussion of its usefulness. “Gaining Control of Ourselves,” in conjunction with experiential exercises and videos, will be used to initiate the participants to this intervention. Most major corporations have accepted this model for use by H.R. and EAP Managers.

The Third day of Training is Organizational Emotional Intelligence/ Anger Management. This training is designed to prepare the participant to offer workshops or presentations regarding anger management, civility or emotional intelligence a small group format. This is rapidly becoming one of the most requested interventions in anger management. This training has been conducted for Kaiser Permanente of Southern California the Riverside County Medical Association as well as the Illinois State Bar Association. Participants who attend all three days of this training will receive a free CD containing a 16 hour course on Motivational Interviewing. This in addition to the above three20days will give the participant the required 40 hours of Facilitator Certification Training.

Anger Management Coaching for Line Staff

Frequently, Human Resource Managers are in need of intervention for employees whose overt behavior is considered hostile, aggressive and damaging to workplace morale and performance. The requested anger management intervention is often needed on an urgent basis as the employee may have been placed on suspension until he or she has completed an anger management class.

In response to this need, Anderson & Anderson has modified its’ Executive Coaching Program including the cost to accommodation this new client group. The Anderson & Anderson individual Coaching for Line Staff is now available on short notice at both of our offices in Los Angeles and Lawndale.

Consistent with the current Coaching for “Disruptive Physicians”, this modified program will consist of a comprehensive assessment followed by 12 anger management sessions over a two or three day period between Monday and Fridays at a time convenient to the client.

Each participant will receive a copy of the Anderson & Anderson client workbook, “Gaining Control of Ourselves” as well as a DVD with the same title. The topics to be covered during the 12- session program will include: anger management, stress management, communication and empathy or emotional intelligence.
