The Key To Financial Success In Private Practice Psychotherapy
The only way to make a lot of money in Private Psychotherapy Practice is to make money while you are asleep. This means that it is essential to have multiple streams of income independent of your active involvement.
Since I have had a remarkable private practice for forty years, I would like to share some of things that have worked for me:
- Specialization in a needed intervention. For me, Child Psychotherapy gave me my start and Emotional Intelligence/Anger Management is my current specialization.
- Seek additional training in your specialty. (Harvard University in Child Psychotherapy served me well)
- Have a professionally designed website with a blog established for your practice.
- Master Social Networking, blogging, presenting, writing articles as well as making TV. and radio appearances.
- You must become active on Linked in, Facebook and other social networking sites.
- Write books, blogs and articles about your specialty.
- Market your books on your website as well as through your own and the Affiliate Programs of others. This brings in money while you are asleep. (Anderson & Anderson) earns in excess of $100,000 per year from the sell of books and DVDs alone.
- Self-publish your books, posters, DVDs, CDs and other material associated with your specialty. (Our books are printed in China for $1.50 and sell for $28 to $250 each)
- Train and certify others in your specialty. (We train providers all over the U.S. as well as other English Speaking countries in the Anderson & Anderson Anger Management Facilitator Certification)
- The Anderson & Anderson Anger Management Training is three days at a cost of $1500 per person. If ten persons attend one training, that equals $15,000.00.
- Provide your services in other languages. (Our curriculum is published in Spanish, English, Chinese and French)
- If you would like to receive high fees for your work, locate your office in an affluent area. (We are in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles)
- Work with a high income demographic. (We provide Coaching for Physicians and Attorneys)
- Provide a service that is needed or wanted. (We provide anger management that is often mandated by Human Resource Managers, Hospital Administrators and Courts)
- Emotional Intelligence Coaching and Anger Management can add additional streams of income for Managed Care Practices.
- Always charge more that everyone else. Inexpensive is really cheap and gains you nothing.
- Whenever you need or want a raise, increase you fees or the price of your products.

Emotional Intelligence As An Antidote To Holiday Blues
As the holidays approach, there is an increase in “seasonal affective disorders” commonly referred to as holiday blues. One of the typical symptoms of this disorder is anger, irritation and agitation.
While psychotherapy and or medication is often useful in treating seasonal depression, anger management is a practical intervention to assist the sufferer with the skills needed to manage his or her stress and anger as well as to use emotional intelligence and assertive communication to enhance interpersonal interaction.
The most popular assessment instrument determining skills in emotional intelligence is the Bar On 2.0 EQ Assessment. This assessment can be taken anywhere on-line .The results are also provided on-line. The 15 Emotional Intelligence Subscales are listed below:
- Self-Regard
- Self-Actualization
- Problem Solving
- Reality Testing.
- Emotional Expression
- Stress Tolerance
- Interpersonal Relationships
- Assertiveness
- Empathy
- Independence
- Emotional Self-Awareness
- Emotional Expression
- Interpersonal Relationships
- Independence
- Impulse Control
An Emotional Intelligence Assessment can be the beginning of a stress free/anger free beginning of a new life with self-awareness, self-control, social awareness and relationship management.

George Anderson to present to the Long Beach Memorial Hospital
Tomorrow, November 14, 2012, George Anderson will present to the Long Beach Memorial Hospital Medical Staff.
This one-hour presentation is the same one that was presented to the American Medical Association’s Conference in Hawaii on November 9, 2012. The title of the presentation is “Emotional Intelligence for Disruptive Physician Behavior”.
Both presentations are a clear indication of the status of Emotional Intelligence For Impulse Control for Physicians in the United States. Any intervention that is approved for physicians is automatically considered legitimate/acceptable for the rest of the population.
Emotional Intelligence for Impulse Control/Disruptive Behavior is a current source of concern for HealthCare Organizations Nationwide.
Anderson & Anderson is considered the major organization for providing intervention for “disruptive physician behavior”.

The American Medical Association Supports The Value Of Emotional Intelligence
A large number of Medical School Deans and Faculty responded with support for including Emotional Intelligence in the training of medical students and residents. All of the Deans present at the Hawaii Conference for George Anderson’s Presentation “What are the solutions? Anger Management in healthcare” clearly supports the inclusion of Emotional Intelligence for Impulse Control.
The following topics were included with examples in Anderson’s Presentation:
- The important role played by the use of the Bar On EQ 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment in coaching and training physicians.
- Explanation of the 5 EQ Composites and the 15 Sub-scales.
- EQ Skilled-based coaching.
- Anderson & Anderson curriculum for skill enhancement in EQ.
- The importance of practice in developing and improving EQ skills.
This presentation offered those in attendance an opportunity to learn how coaching can be used as a practical application for skill enhancement in Emotional Intelligence in Medical Schools.
